NFL Draft shows well for Utah and MWC Add Comment    May 03, 2010

I wanted to wait and take all of the draft picks in as well as see who would be picked up as an unsigned free agent as well as a try out.  I found the results interesting and my take might either frustrate you or make you think I am crazy.  My results show the obvious, that Utah led the MWC and all Utah schools in draft picks with six.  TCU was in second with three.  BYU provided one draft pick and that came in the second round.  There were 11 draft picks and 19 taken in the free agent market.  30 over all entering the NFL at a chance from the MWC and Utah schools are good.  I know there are many hanging on to another year of school, but I think we are seeing more out of the big three, Utah, TCU and BYU.  I had expected more out of BYU this year, but to be honest, Max Hall really ruined his chances with his running potty mouth.  Utah really surprised me.  Not in a way that they produce talent, but the fact that they had so much talent come out of a rebuilding year.  I also believe that Utah will have a great year after the rebuilding.  I expect them to go for the BCS bust, and at least win one of the two big games with TCU and BYU.   With both of those games at home an near the end of the season, BYU is primed for a great year, especially if they can take out Pittsburgh.  BYU should be fine, but there are a lot of questions on offence.  They had a good recruiting year and with return missionaries, they should be ok, but I do not think they are going 10-2 again, maybe 9-3.  TCU is tough, getting tougher, but big games on the road will hurt the schedule.  The key, all three need to focus on every other game outside of the big three to drive each other back into the top 25.

Here is the school break down with drafted and un drafted, but signed:

Wow -I didn't realize Utah was that high in the drafts. Should be an interesting year. TCU is looking strong.

Well, I think it is interesting that TCU and BYU finished ahead of Utah, but Utah produced more pro's.
