Michael Loyd, Jr leaving the "Y" Add Comment    May 06, 2010

When I first heard about this "change" in the program, it was from KFNN Radio on the DJ & PK show.  PK, who is not my favorite, but has some good points from time to time, if you can ignore his whining.  He stated that it was a black thing,  and it was tough to be a black player at a white school on a white team (not quoting).  So I listened, and not being the sports expert that PK is, I took his word for it.  Sad thing is, I believed it and allowed him to continue setting the stereotype that it is a black/white thing.  This is not a racial issue, Coach Rose is not like that.  I was at Dixie College when he coached there, and he had many different types of colors on his teams.  He is a great coach, but what is sad is that PK did not get off his butt and go do some reporting.  Come to find out today from the DJ & PK show that a reporter Jim Rayburn went out and did his job, and reported on the situation.

It is learned that Lloyd was not doing what he was to do.  He grades are not where they need to be, he was late for meetings and was not on the same page as the rest of the team.  Now, in my book, if you really liked a player, you will find a way to work around this, find a way to get in his head and help.  At this point, and I am not in the locker room, I am not a reporter so I do not have access to this, but I would think that Rose would have done all of this and that it was time to separate ways.  For Lloyd to say it was not his decision, he was pushed out is really not true.  You have choices.  You have been given a great opportunity to go to a school for free, to play basketball.  You have to live up to expectations and requirements.  This is not a black thing, this is a student athlete who is lazy and did not appreciate the opportunity he had.
