Griffins Play Idaho State to Scoreless Draw Add Comment    Sep 19, 2010

POCATELLO, Idaho The Westminster womens soccer team played Idaho State to a scoreless draw in double overtime on Monday afternoon.  Neither team could find the back of the net through 110 minutes of action and with the tie Westminster is now 0-1-1 on the season.  The game counts as an exhibition for Idaho State.

Idaho State outshot the Griffins 21-7 in the contest and put seven shots on frame.  The host Bengals also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.  Westminster did manage two shots in the second overtime, both by Corie Walch.

Heather Hillam led the Griffins with three total shots in 63 minutes played.  Walch finished with two shots while Tanisia Wilson and Sarah Swenson each recorded one shot on goal.  Four players played at least 100 minutes for Westminster with three more playing at least 80 minutes.  Lindsay Bekken made seven saves in goal to claim her second career shutout.

Westminster returns to action on Tuesday, August 24 against Northwest Nazarene.  The game is the home opener and begins at 11 a.m. on Dumke Field.
