     Weber State mens track and field coach, Dan Walker, has signed six high school seniors and one junior college transfer to national letters of intent. They are, in alphabetical order: Christian Barbiero (Salt Lake City, Utah / Judge Memorial HS); Derek Harrebomee (har-BO-may)(Lakeside, California / Cuiyamaca JC); Josh Peterson (Riverdale, Utah / Bonneville HS); Ben Poulson (Kaysville, Utah / Davis HS); Jace Tensmeyer (Riverdale, Utah / Bonneville HS); Kurt Ward (Firth, Idaho / Firth HS) and Dalton Zundel (Ogden, Utah / Ben Lomond HS). 

     We continued our tradition of signing some of the best athletes from the state of Utah, and added one from Idaho and one from California, said Walker. We added some strength and depth to our already talented 400 meters and hurdlers, improved ourselves in the middle distance events and added another excellent thrower. This group, along with a strong group of returning LDS Church missionaries, gives us a great opportunity to make a go at another Big Sky Conference championship in 2011. 

    Barbiero (6-0, 160) is a two-time state Class 3A state champion in the 400 meters and won the 200 meters this Spring. He has career bests of 48.52 in the 400 and 21.91 in the 2000. He plans on majoring in Criminal Justice. 

   Harrebomee (6-3, 215)  was Cuyamaca Junior Colleges track and field MVP both his junior and senior seasons and was named the Foothill Conference Athlete of the Year in 2010. He has the second best career Hammer Throw mark in school history at 177-02.00, the fifth best career mark in the Shot Put (49-03.50) and the sixth best mark in the Discus (151-00.00). He made the Deans List three times during his junior college career. He will major in Communications at Weber State. 

  Peterson (6-0, 180) was named Bonneville Highs track and field MVP in 2009 and 2010. He placed second in this years Class 4A 400 meter race and was third in 200 meters his junior season. His career best time of 48.24 is a Bonneville High school record. He has a career best in the 200 meters of 22.21. 

  Poulson (6-0, 140) was the 2010 region champion in both the 400 meters and 800 meters. His career best in the 400 meters is 49.1. His best 800 meter time is 1:55.00. He plans on majoring in Microbiology. 

  Tensmeyer (5-11, 135) will compete in both the 110 meter hurdles and 400 meters hurdles.  He has a career best of 15.61 in the 110 hurdles and 39.61 in the high school 300 meter hurdles. He was part of the Bonneville High 4x400 meter relay team which set a school record of 3:21.00.   He is undecided on his area of major. 

  Ward (5-8, 145) was the Idaho state champion in the 800 meters in 2008. He has a career best time of 1:54.30.  He will also compete in the 400 meters where he has a career best of 49.1. He plans on majoring in Physical Education. 

  Zundel (6-2, 145) was a triple winner at the 2010 Utah Class 3A state championship, wining the 800 meters, 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters. He also earned First Team Class 3A honors in cross country as well.  He has career bests of 1:57.00 (800 meters), 4:29 (1,600 meters) and 9:37 (3,200 meters). He will major in Secondary Education.
