CEDAR CITY, Utah - Sept. 20 - Southern Utah's Analaine Pelaez has been named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Thunderbirds to a pair of victories over Centenary and Oral Roberts last weekend.
Pelaez led SUU with a school-record 23 kills and .594 hitting percentage in the 3-0 victory over the Centenary Ladies on Thursday night. The reigning Summit League Freshman of the Year followed up that performance with an 18-kill outing in a 3-0 victory over the Golden Eagles on Saturday night. In all, Pelaez totaled 71 kills, averaging 6.83 per set, while hitting .464 with 14 digs. The Hooper, Utah native currently leads the Summit League with 4.21 kills per set and 5.21 kills per set during league play.
Pelaez and the rest of the Thunderbirds will be back in action this week when SUU hosts Utah Valley on Tuesday night and then hits the road as Summit League play continues at IPFW and Oakland on Friday and Saturday night.
