POCATELLO, Idaho Sept. 4 - The Southern Utah mens team experienced a victorious season opener at the Idaho State Invitational after defeating the Bengals with a score of 17 to 46. The Thunderbirds kicked off the 2010 season at the Centennial Course in Pocatello, taking seven of the top ten positions in the 6k.

I was very pleased with how we ran because the team was so highly packed, said Head Coach Eric Houle. Our top five guys finished within about 31 seconds of each other. That tells me that we have a pretty decent team this year, a team that can contend for that conference title.

Dallas Eborn finished top for the Thunderbirds in second place with a time of 19:26.00, followed by Adam McDonald (19:42.00) in fourth.  Robby Lee (19:48.00), Nigel Sharp (19:55.00) and Kevin Robison (19:57.00) completed the top five for Southern Utah in fifth, seventh and eighth places respectively.

The cross country season will continue in two weeks when the Thunderbirds compete at the UC Riverside Invitational on September 18 in Riverside, Calif.
