Donovan Plunkett #10 SG - Dixie State vs. Chaminade (2009-2011) - NCAA Division II Basketball 1.65 min. | 5.0 user rating MEN'S BASKETBALL: At St. George, led by Donovan Plunkett's 19 points and a Tom Whitehead double-double, the Red Storm kept their Pacific West Conference record unblemished edging the Chaminade Silverswords 82-71 on Saturday night in front of 2874 fans inside the Burns Arena. Dixie State (8-3, 2-0 PacWest) had four starters in double figures paced by Plunkett (6-12 FG, 4-7 3PT). Donovan Plunkett earned Second Team All PacWest Conference honors in the 2009-2010 season after making 44.1% (45 for 102) of his three-point shots from the field, finishing in second behind teammate Tom Whitehead in three-point shooting for the league. He was fifth in three-pointers made per game (1.7), but was the PacWest foul shooting champion after making 86.0% (83 for 90) of his free throw attempts. Plunkett wound up eighth in the league in scoring after averaging 14.0 points per game. In just one year with the Storm, Plunkett ranked eighth in points scored and second in overall scoring average. He nabbed the season's best single-game point total with 30 on the road at Grand Canyon and led the Red Storm with 16 points in their NCAA Tournament First Round game against Cal Poly Pomona. bit.ly |
